Enjoy a great run around downtown Kannapolis! Both the 5K and 8K run will start at the NC Research Campus and travel around the 8th Street greenway. The path through the greenway is covered by a canopy of trees and provides runners a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful scenery. The trail is primarily flat; so come to run fast or enjoy an easy pace while being surrounded by nature! After the run plan to stay for a post race brunch and learn more about the NC Research program!
Duathlon - 9:00 am
Want to challenge yourself and become a multisport athlete?! This race is perfect for the novice and elite athlete that wants to try something a little different. The first run is 5K in length and utilizes the beautiful 8th Street greenway. The athletes will then grab their bikes and ride around a 25K loop on the country roads that circle the city of Kannapolis. During the last transition, the running shoes are once again slipped on for a short 3K run to the finish line! Once you have completed the race, you can offically begin your bragging rights as being a multisport athlete! Plan to stay after the duathlon for a post race meal and learn more about the NC Research program!
Kid's Bicycle Safety Rodeo - 10:00 am
A kid's bicycle safety rodeo is an event that allows children of all ages to learn about bicycle safety in a fun and safe environment! An area in the parking lot will be roped off and staged with street signs, so that kids can learn what it is like riding on a street and how to obey cycling laws. They will also learn about the importance of wearing a helmet and how to prevent future crashes! Make sure not to leave home without bringing your child's bike and helmet, so that they can have a fun time too!
